Brussels, 01/12/2010 (Agence Europe) - On 30 November, the European Commission approved Swiss postal services company Schweizerische Post's taking a significant minority shareholding in German provider of direct mailing services Meiller direct GmbH, which is currently solely controlled by Austrian postal company Österreichische Post. In exchange, Schweizerische Post will transfer its direct mailing activities to Meiller. The direct mailing activities of Meiller comprise the printing and enveloping of addressed and unaddressed marketing items in Germany and, to a lesser extent, in France and the Czech Republic. The Commission decided that it was very unlikely that the parent companies would coordinate their competitive behaviour as a consequence of the creation of the joint venture, of which the Commission was notified on 22 October.
