Second conference on employment

Brussels, 22/11/2010 (Agence Europe) - The second conference on employment in the Euro-Mediterranean space started work in Brussels on Monday. Ministers are expected to attend. Around 20 of the social partners have been invited to this initiative of Belgium, the president-in-exercise of the Council of the EU. The first meeting of this kind took place in Marrakesh (Morocco) 2008. The working group met on Sunday to prepare for the session at ministerial level.

The aim is to “define the priorities together” to promote the growth of employment in this common space, particularly the employment of young people, training, social standards and social dialogue. The adoption of a plan to create a Euro-Mediterranean Observatory focusing on the issues of health and safety at work is planned. (F.B./transl.fl)
