22/11/2010 (Agence Europe) - LUX Prize 2010 - On Wednesday 24 November at 11.45am, the president of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, will award the LUX Prize for European cinema this year. The three films competing for the prize are: Akadimia Platonos by Filippos Tsitos (Greece and Germany), Die Fremde by Feo Aladag (Germany) and Illégal by Olivier Masset-Depasse (Belgium). MEPs who have seen the films will be choosing the prize-winner. This annual prize is awarded to films that illustrate the founding values of the European identity, reveal Europe's cultural diversity and clarify the debates about European integration. Similarly to all the prize-winners since 2007, the 2010 prize-winner will receive financial support from the European Parliament, including subtitling in all EU official languages, adaptation in the original version for the visually impaired or hard of hearing and production of a 35 mm copy by the EU member state where the DVD is released.
