Brussels, 19/11/2010 (Agence Europe) - At the initiative of the vice-presidents of the European Parliament, Isabelle Durant (Greens/EFA, Belgium) and Libor Roucek (S&D, Czech Republic), the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) organised a human chain around the European Parliament in Brussels on Friday 19 November. The 2010 coalition of social NGOs thus launched, on Friday, a call for political decision-makers to take urgent action on 8 points: - accessible services for all, an end to homelessness, participation in policy making, fundamental rights at the heart of the European policies, equality between men and women and an end to all discrimination, redistribution of wealth to create more equal societies, adequate income and high levels of social protection, and decent work to create a sustainable way out of poverty.
