Brussels, 19/11/2010 (Agence Europe) - On 19 November, youth ministers adopted conclusions on access by young people to culture. A number of obstacles, mainly financial and geographical, prevent young people from accessing culture. New technology, of which young people are major consumers, can play a massive role in improving young people's access to cultural goods. The social and family environment is another factor that is crucial to promoting participation. In its conclusions, the Council calls on member states and the European Commission to facilitate access by all young people to culture and to draft coordinated policies to this end. (I.L./transl.rt)
