16/11/2010 (Agence Europe) - September 2010: euro zone external trade surplus and deficit for the EU. According to initial estimates published on Monday, 15 November by Eurostat, the first estimate for the euro area (EA16) trade balance with the rest of the world in September 2010 gave a €2.9 billion surplus, compared with +1.4 bn in September 2009. The August 2010 balance was -5.0 bn, compared with -1.7 bn in August 2009. In September 2010 compared with August 2010, seasonally adjusted exports rose by 0.6%, while imports fell by 2.5%. The first estimate for the September 2010 extra-EU27 trade balance was an €11.7 bn deficit, compared with -10.5 bn in September 2009. In August 2010 the balance was -17.7 bn, compared with -11.2 bn in August 2009. In September 2010 compared with August 2010, seasonally adjusted exports rose by 0.7%, while imports fell by 1.5%.
