Brussels, 15/10/2010 (Agence Europe) - In a debate at the European Parliament, think tank the Barilla Center for Food & Nutrition presented a study which shows that foods most highly recommended for health are also those with the lowest environmental impact. The study, Double Pyramid: healthy food for people, sustainable food for the planet, combines the well-known food pyramid with an environment pyramid, based on an estimation of the environmental impact of each foodstuff in terms of generation of greenhouse gases (carbon footprint), consumption of water resources (water footprint) and use of land (ecological footprint).
