25/08/2010 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Olli Rehn, who commented recently that Slovakia had failed in its duty of solidarity by refusing to pay its share of the financial loan to Greece (see EUROPE 10198), has been criticised by the Slovakian prime minister, Iveta Radicova. In an interview in German newspaper Die Welt on Wednesday 25 August 2010, she said that she would be demanding an official apology from Brussels when she visits Berlin on Wednesday. She said that the fact that Olli Rehn, a Brussels official, had never been elected but had expressed opinions about the elected parliament of Slovakia was insulting. She added that it was not a question of solidarity with a country in crisis but rather of solidarity with governments that had shown themselves to be irresponsible. (A.B./transl.fl)
