04/08/2010 (Agence Europe) - 210 MPs from several European countries and the European Parliament have written to the President of the United States, Barack Obama, calling for the People's Mujahidin Organisation of Iran (PMOI) to be removed from the American list of terrorist organisations (FTO). Representatives of the parliaments of the UK, France and Italy and of the EP argue that “the designation of the PMOI serves as an impediment to our efforts in dealing with Iranian's regime's growing threat to global peace and security”, Alejo Vidal-Quadras (EPP, Spain), vice-president of the EP and member of the “In search of Justice” organisation, stresses in a press release. He goes on to plead for a joint and united transatlantic policy, because by keeping the PMOI on the FTO list, “the USA is alienating the pro-democracy Iranians”. (A.B./trans.fl)
