Brussels, 30/07/2010 (Agence Europe) - The Commission's decision to authorise six varieties of transgenic maize for human and animal consumption for import into and processing in the EU, though not for cultivation, (see EUROPE 10190) has provoked the ire of MEP Jean-Luc Bennahmias (ALDE, France). The European Parliamentarian sees in this move, which he calls undemocratic, an insidious threat to global agriculture. He hopes that the Parliament will raise this issue.
