Brussels, 15/07/2010 (Agence Europe) - The aim of Catherine Ashton's trip to Georgia on 15 and 16 July is to help to launch talks on the association agreement. The EU high representative for foreign affairs will also visit the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) and discuss matters with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze. She will then continue to Kazakhstan (Almaty) where, on 17 July, she will attend an informal meeting of OSCE foreign ministers. This week, the EU is also beginning talks with a view to association agreements with the two other republics of the South Caucasus - Azerbaijan (16 July) and Armenia (19 July). Talks on the same agreements are already in progress with Ukraine and Moldova. (H.B./transl.jl)
