Brussels, 13/07/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 13 July, the Council of the EU formally approved the agreement between the EU and the United States on the transfer of Swift banking data for the purposes of combating terrorism. The agreement, due to come into effect on 1 August, will allow the Americans to resume their Terrorist Finance Tracking Program (TFTP). After initially opposing the agreement, the European Parliament finally gave its go-ahead on 8 July. (B.C./transl.rt)
