Brussels, 17/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton reacted “with great interest”, though also with caution, to the announcement from the Israeli government that it was to ease the blockade of the Gaza Strip, permitting a greater inflow of materials for civilian projects that are under supervision. She is waiting to learn the details of the Israeli plan, however, before responding at further length. Ashton also repeated the EU request for the current “positive list”, which details the goods that are allowed into Gaza, to be replaced with a “negative list”, specifying the products which are not allowed in. She also repeated the EU call for a “credible” inquiry into the circumstances of the Israeli raid on the Gaza-bound humanitarian flotilla on 31 May. (H.B./transl.rt)
