03/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - The ministry of the interior and public administration of Montenegro, the Council of Europe, the OSCE mission in Montenegro and the union of the municipalities of Montenegro are holding a regional conference in Budva on 3 and 4 June, to consider ethics, transparency and good governance in the Balkans. Discussions will allow the major challenges and possible solutions to be set out in order to encourage ethical behaviour in local administration and in combating corruption. Recommendations for strengthening the quality of governance will be adopted after the work, as well as a final declaration that will take into consideration the best practice identified. Measures to be taken will be formulated. Participants include Ivan Brajovic, Minister of the Interior and of Public Administration for Montenegro, Ambassador Paraschiva Badescu, Head of the OSCE mission in Montenegro, Childerik Schaapveld, Director of Democratic Institutions at the Council of Europe, and Zarko Pavicevic, who is president of the governing council of the union of the municipalities of Montenegro.
