Court cancels Commission decision to classify statements by French authorities concerning their support for France Télécom as state aid

Brussels, 21/05/2010 (Agence Europe) - In its judgement on Friday 21 May in joined cases T-425/04 and T-444/04, the General Court of the EU cancelled the decision taken by the European Commission on 2 August 2004 - whereby statements of French state support to France Télécom and the announcement in December 2002 of a shareholder loan to the company in the form of a €9 billion credit line - constituted state aid incompatible with EU law.
