01/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 14 April, the representation for the Ile-de-France and the rail freight association, EURO CAREX, are to hold a debate on Europe's future transport policy. On a sustainable future for transport in Europe, the debate comes at time when the European Commission is finalising work on the new White Paper on transport which should be published by the end of the year. The former deputy chairman of the EP transport committee, Gilles Savary, and Mathieu Grosch (EPP, Belgium), who coordinates the EPP group at the same committee, as well as Saïd El-Khadraoui (S&D, Belgium), will take part in the debate. The meeting will also allow presentation of EURO CAREX, which aims to develop the European freight transport service on the existing high speed rail network. By 2015, the association plans to extend its services by linking the airports of Amsterdam-Schiphol, Liège, Lyons-Saint-Exupéry and Roissy-Charles de Gaulle. (A.By./transl.jl)
