01/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - According to a press release from the French Federation of Truffle Growers on 29 March, it has called for the European Parliament resolution on the quality of agricultural products of 24 March (report by Giancarlo Scotta, see EUROPE 10106) to be implemented swiftly. French truffle growers were pleased to note that the EP supported sectoral marketing standards, that had been “'given a rough ride by the European Commission”, but which play a key role in keeping markets transparent, allowing consumers to compare product prices, grade and quality and ensuring fair competition in Europe, as has been the case since 1996with the “fresh truffles” standard, the press release says. The issue will be on the agenda for the forthcoming meeting of the European Truffles and Truffle Growers Association (GETT) in Saint Cannat in the Couches-du-Rhône, France on 16 April.
