Boris Tadic wants his country officially recognised as candidate for accession by end 2010/early 2011

Brussels, 29/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - After submitting its application for EU membership in December 2009, Serbia hopes the EU27 will grant it official “candidate country” status by the end of the year or by early 2011 at the latest, said President Boris Tadic during a meeting with Catherine Ashton in Brussels on 26 March. The next stage in the membership process would be for the Council to invite the European Commission to prepare its “opinion” on Serbian candidature. This...
