02/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European University Institute - Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies is to hold a series of lectures on the institutional implementation of the Lisbon Treaty. Items on the programme are: - the citizen's initiative mechanism; - the role of national parliaments; - the new organisation of external relations; - relations between the two presidents and the high representative; - the new comitology reform; - reform of the area of freedom, security and justice; - and the new institutional challenges of fundamental rights protection. Work will be opened by Josep Borrell, the former president of the European Parliament, who has also chaired the European University Institute since January 2010.
