01/12/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission announced on Monday 30 November that the names of six agricultural and food products were to be added to the list of Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI). These are Italian products “Fromaggio di Fossa di Soglano” (cheese - PDO), “Marrone di Combai” (chestnuts - PGI) and “Aglio Bianco Polesano” (garlic - PDO), German pastry product “Bremer Klaben” (PGI), Polish cheese “Redykolka” (PDO) and, from the United Kingdom, “Cornish sardines” (PGI). The six will be added to the list of some 850 products already protected under legislation on protection of geographical indications, designations of origin and traditional specialities.
