While recommending more effective anti-smoking efforts, Parliament tries to maintain certain economic interests

Brussels, 27/11/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 26 November, the European Parliament adopted a joint EPP, S&D, ALDE, Greens/EFA, GUE/NGL and ECR resolution by 520 votes to 53, with 45 abstentions, regretting that the Presidency had decided to adopt a Council recommendation on tobacco-free environments, on the basis of the Commission proposal of 30 June 2009, without seeking the view of the Parliament.
