30/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - Asked by the press about the Italian government's support to a possible candidacy of Massimo D'Alema for the post of EU High Representative for foreign affairs and security policy, he indicated on Friday 30 October that his country would present all the names from the first to the last. Italy is always flattered when an Italian is taken into consideration for an important post added Franco Frattini. The name Massimo was cited on Friday as an excellent candidate by the spokespersons for the president of the Socialist groups at the European Parliament, although the latter said the name of David Miliband was mentioned by the press more often and Catherine Ashton, the current Commission for trade had also been mentioned.
