Six Member States to miss 1 November 2009 deadline for applying EU payment services directive

Brussels, 19/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - 'From the latest news received, it seems that some Member States will unfortunately not be ready on time, namely Sweden, Poland, Estonia, Greece, Latvia and Slovakia,' explained EU Internal Market Commissioner Charlie McCreevy last week at a conference on the launch of direct debit services in line with the planned Single European Payment Area (SEPA), commenting on the new EU Directive 2007/64/EC on payment services, due to come into force on 1 November...
