26/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - On 18 June, the European Commission presented to the EU Council of Ministers a proposal for a directive aimed at codification of the 1983 directive on tax exemptions applicable to permanent imports from a member state of the personal property of individuals (EEC/83/183). The proposed directive groups into a single text the original directive and all the amendments brought to it over time. It is therefore purely a formal operation that meets a concern for clarification and simplification of the legislation. The substance of the original directive and of its amendments will therefore not be changed in any way.
