20/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - In a letter addressed to the president of France Télévision, Patrick de Carolis, French Green Marie Anne Isler Beguin has criticised the forthcoming emission of a France 2 television channel TV reality programme that takes place among native peoples. Pointing to the difficulty with which a forum of native peoples and Charter were constituted at the European Parliament, the MEP underlined the fact that, “it would be incoherent and cynical to use native peoples today…when their representatives are actually striving to the recover their dignity and rights at the United Nations”. Ms Isler Beguin has called on France Télévision for more information on the planned programme and, while awaiting this additional information, a suspension on the film being shown.
