Andris Piebalgs says he's optimistic about Moscow's ratification of Energy Charter

Brussels, 20/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - In an interview given to Les Echos, in a backdrop to the Parliamentary Conference on Energy Cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region (EUROPE 9214), Commissioner for energy, Andris Piebalgs, said that he was confident about the chances of obtaining an agreement with Moscow on the Energy Charter. While recognising that the giant Russian gas company Gazprom opposed the agreement, Piebalgs said, “we have to continue negotiations for ratification (by Russia)...
