Brussels, 20/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 19 June the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the key body in ensuring food safety in the EU and in charge of risk assessment, partially updated its representation on the management board. Seven new appointments have been made: Diana Banati, Marianne Elvander, Peter Gaemelke, Marion Guillou, Bart Sangster, Roland Vaxelaire and Konstaninos Yazitzoglou. They were chosen for their expertise in a wide range of domains linked to EFSA's mission. These new members will replace half of the initial team that has been in place since July 2002. Catherine Geslain Lanéelle, is currently the vice present of the management board but will be leaving her post on 20 June to start her new job as Executive Officer on 1 July. The fourteen members of the reconstituted management board will hold their inaugural meeting on 12 September in Palma (Italy) at EFSA's HQ.
