24/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Remote Gambling Association (RGA) has criticised the measures adopted by the Italian government aiming to block access to Internet gaming sites which are not established in Italy. The decree adopted as part of the Italian finance law entered into force on Thursday, and restricts not only our options for offering our services, but also our fundamental right to trade freely, said Mark Davies, of the UK on-line gaming company Betfair. Clive Hawkswood, director of the RGA, feels that these measures are unjustified and a clear violation of European rules. He warns: "the Italian authorities should make no mistake- the industry will fight tooth and nail to put an end to this protectionist and unfair law".
