23/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - The President in exercise of the Environment Council of the EU, Elliot Morley, has taken part in three days of informal talks on the impact of climate change in the Arctic region, organised by the Danish government. The British Minister for the environment and his counterparts from over 20 countries- including the United States, Canada, China, Brazil and South Africa- flew over Greenland. "Ministers have come face to face with the visible evidence of the scale and urgency of the climate change challenge", said Mr Morley, adding: "The UK has done much during the G8 Presidency to stimulate and open up international discussions on the future of climate change. I am particularly pleased that developing countries such as China have been present here, as well as the United States".
