28/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - Marco Pannella, MEP and President of the Transnational Radical Party, put a written question to the European Commission asking what concrete initiatives it had taken to obtain the release of a series of opponents and representatives of churches "not recognised" in Vietnam (that he cites). Mr Pannella calls on the Commission to give a precise list of programmes that it finances or jointly finances and which are aimed at establishing rule of law and respect of fundamental freedoms in Vietnam. Despite the more favourable economic conditions, repression continues in this country, said Marco Pannella.
