Eurostat publishes 2002 Yearbook

Luxembourg, 28/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities in Luxembourg, today publishes the 7th edition of its Yearbook. Nearly 200,000 items of data are presented in the form of statistical tables, graphs and maps, accompanied by analytical or methodological comments. The 2002 Yearbook covers the period 1990 to 2000. In terms of geography, it covers the European Union and the Member States (and where possible the eurozone), as well as the principal economic partners of the EU, wherever the data are comparable: member countries of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the United States, Canada and Japan. Finally, a special chapter is devoted to the candidate countries. The 2002 Yearbook is divided into six chapters: the first introduces us to the citizens of Europe, their characteristics and their way of life, the second is devoted to natural resources and environmental protection, the third provides information on the economic and financial health of the EU, the fourth deals sector-by-sector with business activity in Europe, and the fifth covers the international trade of the EU. The last chapter brings together some basic statistics on the candidate countries. Eurostat Yearbook 2002 - The Statistical Guide to Europe, 460 pages, ISBN 92-894-1751-X EUR 40 excluding VAT.
