28/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The EUROPE 2020 organisation will be organising an initiative, in collaboration with the Paris town council, called the Euro-ring Project, which aims to bring the European institutions closer to their citizens. The organisers believe that the "geographic location…inherited during the 1950s (Brussels-Luxembourg-Strasbourg) has become obsolete" and are proposing a "decentralised core" of cities in which the institutions will be distributed. This will constitute Euro-Ring 1, covering London-Paris-The Hague-Amsterdam, the Rhine region (Frankfurt-Cologne-Bonn), as well as Brussels and Antwerp. Euro-ring 2 will link Madrid-Prague-Budapest-Warsaw-Berlin-Stockholm, will be the location of institutions operating at a different rhythm.
