21/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of the Regions is organising a public hearing Monday afternoon on the European Commission Report on economic and social cohesion, which raises the question of the future of regional policy following the enlargement of the European Union. Local and regional politicians from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Malta, as well as European regional associations will take part in this meeting intended to nourish the work of the two rapporteurs of the Committee, Eduardo Hernandez-Soro (Spanish, EPP) and Jan Tindermans (Dutch, PES), the report of which should be examined in plenary in November.
