TRACTEBEL, the Belgian energy group owned by France's SUEZ, has announced that it is launching an amicable takeover bid for GTI, a Dutch industrial services company. TRACTEBEL is offering EUR 37 per share, valuing the company at EUR 330 million. One of the preconditions for a successful big is to buy 95% of GTI's shares. GTI is a leading electrical installation, management and maintenance company in the Netherlands and its turnover reached EUR 903 million in 2000. It has a workforce of 9,000. If the bid goes ahead, GTI will be folded into FABRICOM, TRACTEBEL's service subsidiary. Combined, GTI/FABRICOM would have a turnover of around EUR 2.3 billion in 2001.
