26/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Brazilian Deputy-Minister for External Relations, Mr. de Seixas Correa has announced that his country was ready to negotiate a fisheries agreement with the EU, as long as this agreement is included in the production chapter as a whole. This development may be explained by the fact that the fisheries agreement concluded by the EU today covers a broad array of measures, including environmental ones. For its part, Brazil is currently reviewing its fisheries policy, gradually agreeing to the possibility of foreign vessels fishing in its waters.
