04/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European elected SPD member Willi Görlach strongly criticised the ministers-presidents of the German Länder with non-ratification by the Bundesrat of the Intergovernmental Conference on EU institutional reform if certain conditions that the Länder set are not met. Mr Görlach mainly reproaches the current president of the Conference of Ministers-Presidents, Henning Scherf, with having compared a supposed centralised Europe to Hitler's Germany and to the GDR of Ulbricht. Of course, said Mr Görlach, well-established German structures like savings banks and public radio must be safeguarded against the "neo-Liberal atayollah of competition" but the latter also exist in our country.
