16/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - Poll shows support weakening for UK's EU membership. On Tuesday 14 September, an opinion poll showed that British support for the country staying in the EU had weakened due to the re-wording of the referendum question to be asked them by 2017 at the latest. According to the poll, which was carried out by ICM, 43% of the 2,006 adults polled said they would support keeping the UK in the EU, while 40% said they would opt for it to leave. A week earlier, 45% said 'yes' to keeping the UK a member of the EU and 37% said 'no' when the same pollster had asked the original version of the referendum question. In early September, a poll carried out by Survation showed that, for the first time, supporters (43% of people polled) of a British exit from the EU were more numerous than supporters of the UK staying in (40%) (see EUROPE 11383).
