Visiting Tunis on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 September, Roman Escolano, the EIB vice-president responsible for the Mediterranean, is due to sign a financing agreement to help Tunisian companies. The details will be given during his visit - the first since he took up this post at the EIB. According to EIB figures, nearly €1.1 billion in loans has been made to Tunisia since January 2011, 60% of which have been for the private sector. The loans have generally been for the implementation of new projects in key sectors of the Tunisian economy (such as energy, companies, infrastructure, social housing, and education). (FB)
