11/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - European Mobility Week. European Mobility Week will be held from Wednesday 16 until Tuesday 22 September. The objective of the week is to raise citizens' awareness of alternative means of sustainable transport - such as cycling or walking - in urban areas. The local authorities taking part in the event are thus invited to put forward local initiatives in connection with this year's theme - “Choose. Change. Combine”. Initiatives should be dedicated to multi-modality - in other words, combining different modes of transport to move around town. The culmination of this event, which is led by the European Commission and three local authority networks (Eurocities, ICLEI, and the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe), will be Car-free Sunday (Sunday 20 September in Brussels).
