11/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - European automobile production reportedly cleaner. According to figures published by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) on Tuesday 8 September, the energy consumption in millions of megawatts/hour to produce a car has reportedly fallen by 14.8% over the last decade, dropping from over 43 million MWh/year to a little under 36 million MWh/year. The trend is the same for the consumption of water used in production, which reportedly fell by nearly 40% between 2005 and 2014 (from over 90 million cubic metres per year to less than 60 million), and also for CO2 emissions which reportedly decreased by 25.4% (from over 14 million tonnes per year to a little under 10 million tonnes). In addition, the quantity of waste reportedly dropped by 5.4% over the same period. (PH)
