01/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - EU asked to comply with WTO verdict on anti-dumping duties on Chinese steel fasteners. On 7 August, the WTO published the report by the panel set up by the dispute settlement body (DSB) in December 2013 to assess compliance with the WTO's verdict as part of China's complaint against the EU's anti-dumping measures targeting Chinese exports of certain steel fasteners (screws, nuts and bolts) (DS 397). China obtained the establishment of a compliance panel to check the EU's compliance with the DSB's verdict of December 2010, which condemned the EU's anti-dumping duties. This verdict was confirmed by the appellate body in July 2011 (see EUROPE 10421). In its conclusions, the compliance panel considers that the measure taken by the EU to comply with the DSB's verdict is “inconsistent” with the WTO anti-dumping agreement and the compliance panel underlines that the DSB's recommendations and rulings “remain operative”.
