01/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - EIB has new vice-president and new representative to EU. On Tuesday 1 September, Jan Vapaavuori from Finland took over the position of Wilhelm Molterer from Austria as Vice-president of the European Investment Bank (EIB). The same day, Mikolaj Dowgielewicz from Poland took up his new post as representative of the EIB to the EU institutions and as head of the Brussels office, taking over the reins from Ben Knapen from the Netherlands. In Finland, Vapaavuori was Minister of Economic Affairs (2012-2015) and Minister of Housing (2007-2011). As Vice-president of the EIB, he will hold supervisory responsibility for EIB operations in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden and in several countries outside the European Union. He will also be in charge of horizontal issues such as advisory services and corporate social responsibility. As regards Dowgielewicz, he served as Poland's Secretary of State for European Affairs and Economic Policy (2010-2012) and Vice-Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank (2012-2015). (JK)
