07/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - Mogherini calls for restraint. On Wednesday 5 November, EU High Representative Federica Mogherini called for restraint after a terrorist attack that same day in East Jerusalem. “I expect all parties to act responsibly and show restraint, to not further inflame the already very tense situation”, she said, stressing that this was “the only way to defeat the enemies of peace” and guarantee the security of all. She said that the attack, when a car was driven by a Palestinian into a crowd of people killing one policeman and injuring several people, was further “painful evidence of the need to undertake serious efforts towards a sustainable peace agreement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict”. Clashes also broke out on the Esplanade of the Mosques and around the old city. (CG)
