Brussels, 07/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - The cities are stepping up the pressure on the European Commission to produce an urban agenda based on partnership. Some 60 city leaders, meeting in Munich on 7 November within the framework of the association EUROCITIES, argued for effective and strategic partnerships between cities and institutions, so that European policies are better suited to the real needs on the ground. In particular, EUROCITIES stresses that cities should be involved in developing policies on air quality, transport and youth employment. The same goes for the success of the objectives of the strategy EUROPE 2020, the association added. “The solutions we are developing in our cities can benefit Europe as a whole”, said the President of EUROCITIES, who is also the mayor of the French city of Nantes.
