20/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - Aid of €45 million. On 20 January, the European Commission announced additional aid of €45 million to support development and cooperation with Jordan, Libya and Tunisia. The main objective of this new funding is to respond to the socio-economic priorities expressed by the people, by means of concrete bilateral actions. €20 million will go to help Jordan offset the consequences of the Syrian refugee crisis, with support for education, water protection and the treatment of the waste water. Libya will receive €10 million to help create an asylum and migration management system that fully respects human rights. Lastly, €15 million will go to Tunisia: €10 million for agricultural and rural development and €5 million to support the efforts of the Tunisian authorities in the field of environmental governance in the region of Gabès.
