17/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - Supplementary pension rights. On Monday 16 December, the Agriculture and Fisheries Council adopted, without debate, the amended proposal for a directive on minimum requirements to promote workers' mobility by improving opportunities to acquire and protect supplementary pension rights (see EUROPE 10972). The most important change will be introduced within four years in all member states and will consist of setting a minimum period for contributions (three years) for European workers to be able to maintain their supplementary pension rights when they change their country of residence within the EU.
