18/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - Ensuring “nautical accessibility”. On the fringes of a conference on accessibility in remote regions, organised on Friday 15 April 2011 in Gijon by the CPMR, the general delegate of the French Union of Ports, Geoffroy Caude, backed the CPMR idea that a certain number of ports are needed on each coastline to ensure proper accessibility, and the fact that ports work together should be borne in mind, along with how ports organise matters among themselves. He said that proper 'nautical accessibility' should be assured in terms of port infrastructure and access routes and the size of docking positions and terminals, along with local inhabitants' acceptance of port activity and good inland transport connections.
