Brussels, 18/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - The 2010 Annual Activity Report of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) was published on Monday 19 April. It shows improvements in the quality and achievements of the ECA in a year that saw the introduction of a full set of key performance indicators.
The principal users of the special reports and the auditees surveyed rate the quality and impact of the ECA's recent annual and special reports as good. “Another indicator shows that 90% of audit recommendations have been accepted by the auditees.” Alongside an overview of the ECA's new way of working (including a new chamber system to rationalise the decision-making process), the report sets out the ECA's achievements in 2010: two annual reports (one on the general EU budget and one on the European Development Fund), 40 special annual reports on EU bodies and agencies, 14 special reports on value for EU money and 6 reports on EU budget management. To gather audit evidence for these audits, a total of 376 field trips were carried out in member states and elsewhere. The report notes that like in previous years, the independent external ECA audit gave its books a clean bill of health for 2010. (L.C./transl.fl)
