Commission provides €2 million in emergency aid for victims of Typhoon Ketsana in Philippines

Brussels, 29/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 29 September, the European Commission announced it was to provide €2 million in emergency humanitarian aid to the people of the Philippines most affected by tropical storm Ketsana.

Funding from the ECHO (the Commission's humanitarian aid department) budget was fast-tracked, after a preliminary assessment of immediate humanitarian needs, carried out by an ECHO expert in Manila. Another ECHO expert is hard at work coordinating the assistance...
