17/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 16 July, the EU Council of Ministers approved by written procedure, the appointment of Karel De Gucht as the new Belgian member of the European Commission with effect from 17 July and until the end of the term of office of the present Commission, 31 October 2009.
